When it comes to Halloween, some of the most classic costumes are the most traditional and when the who’s who of Hollywood puts on a costume...you know it’ll be epic. When it comes to finding just the right inspiration that calls for a lace front wig or hair extensions, look no further than the fascinating world of Walt Disney classics.
In 1937 Walt Disney released what would be their first princess, and it wasn’t Snow White! The Silly Symphonies short, “The Goddess of Spring” which introduced Princess Persephone. The animation and movement for her would inspire those of Snow White that would come out later that year. So began a lineage of Disney Princesses that were a Halloween costume staple for little girls from the 1940s on.
But when these little girls grow up, they never quite stop playing the princess. We rounded up some of our favorite celebrity princess costumes from Halloween’s past to inspire you to make your hair part of the outfit!
Ariel The Little Mermaid: Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian
Kylie’s Halloween costumes are always the stuff of legend with her fans sharing the love to the tune of 9 million likes! For Halloween 2019 Kylie sported a vibrant ruby red wig to play the iconic Disney Prince Ariel and the look was flawless.
But she wasn’t the only one to dress up as a mermaid. A few years earlier, her half sister Kim Kardashian stepped out for Halloween 2012 in a full mermaid ensemble with a stunning blonde wig and ropes of pearls with a clamshell bodice.
She would wear this ensemble once again in 2016 for North and Penelope’s mermaid-themed birthday party.
Sleeping Beauty: Sofia Richie
Also at Kylie Jenner’s 2019 Halloween party, her gal pal Sofia Richie dressed as Sleeping Beauty. Appearing in a blonde wig that had been custom styled, she wore a jeweled choker matching tiara that perfectly matched the classic Disney princess.

Longtime friend of Kylie Jenner Yris Palmer also attended that same 2019 Halloween bash and went as Belle from Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in a stunningly curve hugging gold dress with stitched on roses. A gold and ruby encrusted tiara crowned mermaid length hair (courtesy of some clip-in extensions).
Jasmine from Aladdin: Kim Kardashian
For Halloween 2016 Kim and North dressed up as Jasmine from Disney’s Aladdin in teal two pieces with gold string banded mermaid hair trailing down her back puffed out in sections. The result is striking and fun!
Elsa from Frozen: Kristen Bell
Actress Kristen Bell who voiced Elsa’s sister Princess Anna in Disney’s Frozen was lovingly forced to dress in a matching costume to her daughter for trick or treating in 2017. The look oon her face is everything, but her hair was done up into a lovely chignon with a princess tiara.
The following year? Her daughter demanded the same!
