This year will be an unusual one for brides due to COVID-19 and social distancing. While many brides who had planned for spring weddings have postponed until the summer, this change in tone has created a unique array of bridal hairstyles for summer 2020, but all of which follow a single theme: nature. The trend now is styles are as beautiful in their simplicity as they are in incorporating fresh flowers as a nod to what they have always symbolized: life. Fresh flowers incorporated into any wedding style are as dramatic as they are statement-making, but be sure to keep simple, clean, and elegant.
LOOK #1: Peonies in a Twisted Chignon
Chignons as a knotted updo present a messy, undone effect paired with some simple peonies and lilacs woven into a birchbark hair accessory. What makes this style work is the slightly off-center placement of the fresh flowers that makes the style formal, but not too formal that it looks dated. The length matters, however, so you need enough hair to create a really full chignon.
EXTENSIONS TO USE:
Our I-Tips are a great choice as they can be applied with either hot glue or cold with micro-beads. Fusion hair extensions are a great way to achieve length and volume to create a number of hairstyles.
LOOK #2: Dahlias with a Modern Bob
Not everyone wants to go for a traditionally long hairstyle and if you're a bride who wants something old, yet something new...the the modern bob is an excellent style choice. This mid-length style incorporates a feathery angle to the bob itself that is reminiscent of flapper hairstyles of the 1920s. That really makes this look however is the floral fascinator that is reminiscent of the cocktail party hats of the roaring '20s, composed of dahlias, roses, and begonia leaves.
EXTENSIONS TO USE:
The density of the bob is required for a really full look, so opt for extensions that your stylist can install and then cut and shape into the bob. Our tape-in hair extensions use Italian keratin and blend in perfectly with your natural hairstyle for a discrete look. Use them minimally to keep the fluid shape of the bob, too much hair can result in a flat and weighed-down look.
LOOK #3: Poppies with Bohemian Waves
Classic mermaid length hair is a go-to staple for wedding season, but what makes this hairstyle current is the wavy texture that is so common on the beaches of the coasts that is just "oh so summer". This classic bohemian style incorporates 5 bright-orange poppies that are scatted and random to create a casual look that won't look overdone.
EXTENSIONS TO USE:
The color of the poppies pairs particularly well with brunette hair extensions such as our wavy beaded wefts that offer the density of a sew-in weave with the durability of I-tip extensions.
LOOK #4: Daisies and Dreads
Sometimes you want to take a break from weaves and extensions and rock your natural texture. Dreads look simply stunning in a chunky braid that is simply placed over one shoulder. But the real key to making this look modern is to use floral wire to weave forget-me-nots, daisies, and even narcissus throughout the braid itself.
PRODUCTS TO USE:
While you will be rocking your natural hair for a perfect dreaded braid, naturally texture hair is prone to moisture loss. To keep it healthy for that special day (and every day), check out our new curly hair care products, specially formulated for curly hair extensions and naturally curly hair.
LOOK #5: Wispy Flowers and Chignons
Another variation of the classic chignon relies on wispy flowers, like peach astilbe, that is attached to a comb and simply slide into a low positioned chignon that is stunning yet simple. This crafted hair accessory is a modern take on the crystal barrette of yesterday with a more earthy touch.
PRODUCTS TO USE:
To make this look pop, it's all about that EXTRA shine. Our Perfect Locks Inspire Silk Nectar Serum is just the thing to make your hair shine as you head down the aisle.
A Tip If You're Going for Chignons
Chignons are a classic formal hairstyle, but they can also be the most damaging to natural hair, especially if they're too tight and your extensions are tugging of the roots of your own hair. A good extensionist can make sure that your extensions blend in seamlessly while keeping the chignon loose enough not cause stress and damage, but for an extra layer of protection for the hair shaft from elastics...tell your hairstylist to use a leave-in conditioner or a hair oil like our Perfect Locks Inspire French Argan Oil. It not only helps protect the hair cuticle but also tames frizz and adds loads of shine!
