A day of emotion, love, and hope in regaining confidence with hair loss
Last Saturday, October 21st marked the date of our first annual, “Extend Your Beauty” event, designed to bring together a community of resources for those touched by the crippling challenge of hair loss. Throughout the day stories were told, tears were shed, smiles appeared on faces who could use one. For us, events such as this are the very reason Perfect Locks was born to begin with: to empower women to FEEL beauty and SEE beauty in themselves.
While for anyone the loss of hair can be crippling, for woman in particular, this loss is often more than one can bear…especially on the heels of an ongoing struggle with a difficult medical condition. Often overwhelmed with more questions than answers, it can be difficult to find local resources to help with those answers and find support. While the Perfect Locks showroom provides a private consultation area to help with consultations and hair loss and hair thinning solutions for various conditions, we also sought to bring together other organizations to offer anyone a true base of support.
Cancer Support Community: San Francisco Bay Area
An organization of true caregivers and survivors, offer free comprehensive care to cancer patients and their loved ones. They offer counseling, support groups, nutrition, exercise and education…as well healthy lifestyle classes.
For the Love of Cups
Recognizing that early detection makes a massive difference, For The Love of Cups was establish as a non-profit organization that champions funding for support, research and advanced breast cancer screenings.
John Muir Health
In the San Francisco Bay Area, John Muir Health is a non-profit leader in health care that brings together a network of some of the best doctors, hospitals and other service providers to give higher quality patient care. They have established a core team at the John Muir Health Cancer Institute that offers screenings and diagnosis, as well treatment, support and education.
The Wig Exchange
While Perfect Locks provide new wig and hair pieces to those battling hair loss, The Wig Exchange serves as a resource for those that need low to no-cost solutions. Every wig is passed forward by cancer survivors who want to offer their wig to someone who now needs it. When you are done with yours…you pass it on with hope and love.
Unity Salon and Spa
Before, during or after treatment…every day support by a team of beauty professionals who are skilled in hair services is key. At Unity Salon and Spa, they have created a tranquil environment in the community with all manner of services: from cut & color, to even reiki healing!
