DIY hair masks are cost-efficient and are SUPER easy and fun to make. Encourage Growth & Shine to Your Locks
Who loves a good cup of coffee? I know I do! But who knows coffee is good for your hair? Well maybe not the coffee itself, but the grounds are. The caffeine in coffee may be fun for a pick-me-up, but it also stimulates the hair follicles, which makes your hair thicker. This recipe does not only include coffee, but also coconut oil and yogurt! Coconut oil is a great frizz reducer, stimulates growth and adds shine. Yogurt is an underrated ingredient in hair masks. They help with dandruff, itchy scalp, and greasy hair.
Ingredients:
- 1 tbsp instant coffee powder (freshly ground is best)
- 1 ½ tsp raw coconut oil
- 2 tbsp plain yogurt or Greek yogurt
Recipe:
- Grab a mixing bowl and toss in the coconut oil and coffee powder. Make sure to mix till it’s smooth.
- While mixing, add in yogurt and mix thoroughly.
- Once the mix is a nice and smooth, apply to dry hair.
- To get a nice and even coverage, start from the roots and work your way down. Make to keep adding as you go.
- Pull your hair up into a bun and let it sit for an hour or two.
- Once done, continue with your normal wash routine.
- Repeat this once a week.
Dry or Damaged Hair? We Got You!
We all at one point experienced or is experiencing dry or damaged hair in our life. This recipe involves two ingredients, avocado, and olive oil. Who knew two ingredients can help dry or damaged hair? Avocado is a key ingredient in repairing damaged hair. Avocados are rich with fatty amino acids, vitamin E, A, and D, and iron. Avocados can also help stimulate growth! Now I bet you're wondering about the olive oil. Olive oil is just as good as avocado’s, it acts as a light conditioner, meaning it won’t weigh your hair down. It also adds a nice soft touch to your hair!
Ingredients:
- ½ Ripe Avocado
- 1 tbsp Water
- 2 tbsp Olive Oil
Recipe:
- Cut the avocado in half, scoop out the contents, and either place the meat in a mixing bowl or blender.
TIP - If you have longer hair or your hair is thick, use 1 full or 2 avocados.
- Add 1 tablespoon of water into the bowl or blender, and mix it until it has a smooth consistency. If the mixture is too chunky, add 1 or 2 more tablespoons of water.
- Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and mix it in.
- Once done, apply the mask to wet hair with your hands. Massage it into your scalp, starting for roots to tips.
TIP - If you have super damaged ends, apply more to the tips of your hair.
- Put your hair in a bun and secure it with a clip. Leave the mask on for about 10-30 minutes. Rinse with cool water and continue with your normal wash routine.
- Repeat this once a week or once every two weeks.
Prevent Hair Loss With A Hot Cereal?
Oatmeal, brown sugar, and honey sounds like a good mix for a nice breakfast. But what if we told you these are the ingredients for a hair mask? Sounds crazy, right? Oatmeal is great for exfoliating and helps with itchy scalp and dandruff. It also helps stimulate hair growth! Brown sugar helps improve blood circulation in your scalp and keeps the hair hydrated. Not only does it do all of these amazing things, but it also has glycolic acid which helps keep your hair shiny. Raw honey is good to eat, but it’s better for your hair! It acts as a moisturizer and it keeps the hair hydrated.
Ingredients:
- ½ cup dry oatmeal
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 1 tbsp water
- 2 tbsp raw honey
Recipe:
- Make sure your hair is shampooed and dried before application
- Grab a mixing bowl, and empty the oatmeal, brown sugar, water, and honey.
- Mix till it has a smooth consistency.
- Apply the mask to the scalp and massage for 30 seconds. Once done, continue to spread the mixture from root to tips.
- Pull your hair into a bun and leave the mask on for 40-45 minutes.
- Wash the mask out with lukewarm water.
- Repeat this every two weeks.
Is Your Hair Oily or Greasy? No More!
Eggs are an egg-celent source of protein- pun intended. Which is why this is a great ingredient for a hair mask! Eggs are not only a great source of protein but it has a lot of minerals that help hair growth. Lemons help stimulate hair growth and moisture, but it also has vitamin C and the acids help tighten the hair follicles.
Ingredients:
- 1 egg - egg white
- Lemon juice or 1 fresh lemon
Recipe:
- Grab a mixing bowl and pour the egg white.
TIP - If you have longer hair, use 2-3 egg whites
- Add the lemon and beat the mix with a fork until frothy.
- Once done, apply the mask from root to tip.
- Pull your hair into a bun, and leave it on for 15-20 minutes.
- Wash the mask out of the hair, and continue with your normal wash routine.
- Repeat this every week or so.
