To keep African American hair its healthiest, it must be moisturized regularly. While wearing a sew in weave, your real hair is braided with hair extensions sewn onto the braids, which can make keeping your real hair moisturized a bit challenging. Luckily, because your hair is close to your scalp and your body’s natural oils (sebum) and hidden from the environment, it does not require moisturizing as often as when it is loose. To moisturize your hair while wearing a sew in, we recommend using your favorite leave in conditioner spray. Gently lift the wefts and spray the conditioner between the tracks. A great tip is to keep your conditioner chilled in the refrigerator so you will be able to feel if you are reaching your hair and scalp and not just applying the product to your hair extensions.
