Kinky curly hair is one of the hottest trends of the tear, being seen on too many celebrities to count but it is fair to say big hair is in! This look is definitely a showstopper, sure to turn heads and is for those who wish to make a statement with their hair.
For the naturally curly girls out there, blending your hair with the texture of your kinky curly extensions is fairly easy: just wet your hair and add the product(s) of your choice to enhance your natural curl pattern. However if you have straight, relaxed, or even hair of a looser curl pattern, blending requires a bit more effort but certainly can be done. We want your real hair to stay as healthy as possible so here are our steps for how to blend straight hair with kinky curly extensions without using direct heat:
First, dampen your "leave out" area with plain water using a spray bottle. Next, apply a moisturizing product or leave-in conditioner of your choice.
Now using small soft twist rollers (commonly called flexirods) which are available in your local beauty supply store, carefully roll your hair. The trick to matching the texture of your kinky hair extensions is to work in small sections and spiral the hair up the length of the flexirod rather than to roll the hair on itself. One you have rolled the entire area of your leave out, sit beneath a hooded dryer or allow your hair to air dry overnight. Once dry, carefully untwist each flexirod. The final step is to separate the curls; a bit of frizz helps your hair look a bit more natural. However too much frizz can cause the curl to be lost, so add a bit of oil to the tips of your fingers as you separate your hair as needed. Now fluff your hair extensions and finger comb the curls into place.
You can expect your curls to stay intact for at least a week or longer without needing to be re-rolled. This is an easy, heat free way to blend straight hair with kinky curly extensions and we all love low maintenance hairstyles, right?!
